Master of Physical Education (M.P.E.)

The graduate programs in Physical Education offer various options for you based on your previous studies, and professional interests. For example, the program has routes for those who already have a teaching certificate in Physical Education and wish to advance their skills and knowledge, as well as for those who have a teaching certificate in a different subject matter (e.g. Math or Science) and want pursue a K-12 endorsement in Physical Education. Finally, those who have a baccalaureate degree in an area other than education can obtain their Physical Education teaching certificate while completing the M.P.E. degree.

The M.P.E program produces graduates who have current knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, and administrative procedures in physical education and sport. Emphasis is placed on improving instructional effectiveness and developing quality sport and physical education programs in the school setting. Two areas of focus include: K-12 physical education including elementary, secondary, and adapted physical education experiences and a Research concentration is available.
