School of Educational Innovation and Teacher Preparation

Welcome from the Dean

Carole GreenesWelcome to the School of Educational Innovation and Teacher Preparation (SEITP). We are delighted that you are interested in learning more about the opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate study in the field of education. SEITP is committed to the preparation and development of Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 educators in the areas of early childhood education, elementary education, special education, physical education, English language learning, and secondary education in mathematics, science, history and English.

To accomplish this goal, we:

  • have nationally known faculty who are experts in their fields and who are experienced classroom teachers or administrators;
  • offer practical courses in which the focus is on developing the knowledge and skills critical to successful teaching;
  • use a project approach in courses that involves integration of content, group collaborations and explorations, and development of communication skills;
  • engage students in the exploration of various types of new technologies and ways in which they can be used to enhance learning and teaching;
  • provide opportunities for student work on research and curriculum development activities with faculty;
  • provide in-class and in-school experience with K-12 students beginning with the freshman year;
  • offer students avenues to engagement in community service activities;
  • assign advisors to help students with the matching of their interests with appropriate programs and courses; and
  • have upper-class mentors assist freshmen with course selection, getting to know the campus, and the extracurricular activities available.

On our Web site, you will be able to:

  • get specific information about all of our undergraduate and graduate programs;
  • learn about our talented faculty and their projects and research;
  • investigate the activities of our PRIME Center and opportunities for you to work in the center,
  • explore ways to become involved with the student governance of our school and with the school districts in our area; and
  • find out how to contact our faculty, advisors and staff.

I urge you to come for a visit. Tours of the campus and meetings with faculty, advisors and students can be arranged to fit your schedule. If a visit is not possible, do take the virtual tour of the campus and give us a call. We look forward to having you join our community of learners and teachers.

With very best wishes,

Carole E. Greenes
