Polytechnic campus Facilities Management and Services Energy Policy

In a continuing effort to support the Governor's Executive Order 2001-8, Polytechnic campus Facilities Management and Services recommends the following:
  • Employees will work with their facilities Information Technology department to optimize the use of Energy Star and similar power management tools that allow computers, monitors and the other devices to enter stand-by mode when not in use.
  • Employees will turn off all PCs, lights and other personal office equipment when they expect to be out of the office for more than one hour.
  • Employees will reduce all lighting that does not affect productivity, health or safety.
  • Thermostats in all State-controlled facilities will be set in the 76 - 79 degree range during the months of June though September.
  • To minimize the effect of raising thermostat settings, agencies will develop and implement a professional, casual-dress policy during the months of June through September that is consistent with the type of work that is being performed. Polytechnic campus Facilities Management requests the support of the rest of the campus community to comply with the items stated above in the Executive Order 2001-8. Prior to the above order, the Polytechnic campus initiated and entered into a contract with Sempra Energy Solutions. This energy conservation project included re-lamping of areas, programming and controls for HVAC equipment, as well as installation of more energy-efficient mechanical equipment.  All of these conservation measures are operational. http://www.asu.edu/fm/governor.htm
Water conservation
Everyone on campus -- faculty, staff, students, residents, contractors and visitors -- will be encouraged to use water conservatively and to promote a water conservation consciousness on campus.
