Signage

ASU’s Polytechnic campus signage program is consistent with the policy described in the ASU Policies and Procedures Manuals, Facilities Planning and Construction (FAC), FAC 106: Campus Signage, located at http://www.asu.edu/aad/manuals/fac/fac106.html

Guidelines

ASU’s Polytechnic campus Department of Facilities Management and Services is responsible for maintaining the signage program. In order to ensure a consistent, attractive and functional signage program at the Polytechnic campus of ASU, the following guidelines must be followed:

Permanent Signage

  • All permanent signage on ASU’s Polytechnic campus property must be approved and installed by ASU’s Polytechnic campus Facilities Management and Services or designated contractors. ASU signs must comply with ASU graphic standards.
  • Requests for permanent signs to be installed must be submitted in writing with all relevant information to Facilities Management and Services.
  • All costs for design, materials, construction, installation, repair and maintenance shall be the responsibility of the requestor.

Temporary Signage

  • Temporary signage for special events is permitted.
  • The use of temporary signage on ASU’s Polytechnic campus property must be approved by Facilities Management. Temporary signs not approved will be removed.
  • Temporary signs must be of commercial quality, thereby reflecting a consistent and attractive appearance. Temporary signs consisting of paper, cardboard or similar materials affixed to street signs, utility poles, buildings, or other permanent campus signage are not permitted.
  • Individuals or departments shall be responsible for the costs of repairing any damage to the signs caused by unauthorized use of ASU signs (for example, damage caused by tape, paint, nails, or screws).

Special Event Signage

  • ASU’s Polytechnic campus Department of Parking and Transit Services (PTS) is responsible for event way-finding and parking signage.
  • Event sponsors or department representatives should notify PTS and FM of special event signage requests at least five business days prior to the event.
  • For Special Event Parking please use the form at http://www.poly.asu.edu/admin/pts/events to request special event parking.
  • For large events with campus-wide interest, PTS will place appropriate way-finding and event signage at various locations on campus prior to the event, for a fee of $50.00.
  • For other events, a department representative or sponsor may check out A-frame signs from PTS prior to the event.  Signage to be affixed to A-frames must be prepared according to standard specifications.  The signage and A-frame placement on campus must be approved by PTS.  The A-frames must be returned to PTS as soon as practical following the event.
  • Any signage that does not conform to the standards outlined herein will be removed.

Banners

  • The university policy for banners is located at http://www.asu.edu/aad/manuals/fac/fac114.html
  • ASU’s Polytechnic campus Department of Facilities Management must approve the location for banners installed on buildings and all physical locations on campus.
  • There are a few locations on campus for display of banners of standard sizes of 3’x5’ and 4’x8’. Facilities Management will install the banners; however, the cost for production of the banners is the responsibility of the sponsoring unit.
  • Special event and normally displayed banners will require notifications at least five business days before the event or changing of the normally displayed banners.
