For students living on campus, Williams Campus Housing and Residential Life provides limited support for Ethernet network connectivity problems. Please contact the Housing Office for service requests.
Internet/Network Access in the Halls
Williams Campus Housing and Residential Life provides Internet access via an ethernet connection in all the Residential Halls on campus. Students connecting their own personal computers to the ASU network will be requried to install additional security software and apply various updates to their machines.
Cisco Clean Access
Cisco Clean Access is the security software used in the Residential Halls, which requires that a user's computer be scanned for security weaknesses before accessing the network. If a computer does not meet the security standards, the users will be required to install various updates and/or patches to computers before accessing the network. Wireless Hubs in Houses
Internet service in Williams Campus Housing houses is provided by Cox. In order to get wireless access, obtain a 802.11b/g compliant wireless router and a 802.11b/g Ethernet card.
Wireless Hubs in Residential Halls
NO wireless routers may be used in the Residental Halls. Installation of unauthorized network hardware, including wireless access points installed without authorization by ASU Data Communications, is prohibited by ASU policy . Unmanaged network hardware such as hubs, routers, Etherswitches, and wireless access points could interfere with network security, performance, and monitoring. If you connect unauthorized network hardware to ASU's network, your network access may be disconnected without prior notice and until the unauthorized hardware is removed.
XBox and Playstations in Residential Halls
Students who would like to use an XBox or Playstation in the Residential Halls must first register their boxes with Lin Htay at (480) 727-1700.
