The United States Golf Association predicts that more than 400 new golf courses will be built each of the next 10 years to meet consumer demand, providing a strong market for all golf-related careers. According to the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), the mean salary for experienced golf course superintendents is over $50,000 nationally and over $60,000 in Arizona.
The golf and facilities management concentration is designed to prepare students for careers as golf course superintendents and/or facilities managers. The Golf and Facilities Management (GFM) program at ASU's Polytechnic campus is one of two golf-related disciplines offered by Morrison School of Management and Agribusiness. The Professional Golf Management program is designed for the golf professional’s career of teaching, pro-shop management and customer service.
The curriculum offered in the GFM concentration consists of a unique combination of courses that will teach students business-based management skills and technical abilities, and provide internship opportunities. After completing the required agribusiness core, students can select the Golf and Facilities Management concentration core, which consists of 25 semester hours:
All golf-related courses are designed to help prepare the GFM student to maintain standards supported by the GCSAA.
