Dr. Winham's research looks at the interface of human nutrition and the biological, environmental, and sociocultural factors that shape food practices and subsequently physical growth. The three main themes of her current research agenda are: 1) the long-term effects of early childhood malnutrition, 2) effective ways to prevent childhood obesity in cross-cultural settings, and 3) improving access to food for all. She teaches courses in maternal & child nutrition, cultural aspects of food, international nutrition, and qualitative & survey research methodology.
