About the Sustainable Technologies, Agribusiness and Resource (STAR) Center
In March 2000, the Center for Agribusiness Policy Studies was given a broadened scope which would be more inclusive of the academic disciplines of ASU's Polytechnic campus. The Center's name was changed to Sustainable Technologies, Agribusiness and Resource (STAR) Center. A committee comprised of faculty from the Morrison School of Management and Agribusiness and the College of Technology and Innovation recommended that changing the CAPS Center to a research center would better serve all faculty and staff at the Polytechnic campus, as well as the Tempe and West campuses. The structure of the Center is to facilitate multidisciplinary research and bring together researchers whose mission is to study sustainable processes and systems, whether they be natural or human designed, that will be efficient, less consumptive, and promote conservation of the earth.
To reflect this multidisciplinary purpose, the STAR Center functions under the administration of the Provost of ASU's Polytechnic Campus.
