POLICIES - SALES AND SOLICITATION
The Student Union and Student Activities will issue permits authorizing solicitation in areas under the jurisdiction of the Student Union. Representatives of registered student organizations may apply for sales and/or solicitation with the Student Union. Fundraisers and sales of goods or services will be limited to Monday-Thursday of any given week. Sale activities will be limited to designated areas approved by the Student Union.
Organizations engaging in fundraising activities must meet the following criteria:
- All activities involving any sales of service or goods must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the start date of the activity;
- If an outside vendor is used, the vendor must display a city and/or state privilege license, which is to be displayed during the sales activity
Prohibited Solicitation
Certain solicitation practices are prohibited on the University campus. These include, but are not limited to:
- Any activity that interferes with the official operation of the University; normal flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic; conditions compatible with instruction, research, study, rehearsal and practice; and health, sanitation, and safety of the University students, staff and invitees.
- The offering of unfair, improper, and deceptive inducements.
- The use of any manipulative, deceptive or fraudulent device, scheme or artifice, including misleading advertising and sales literature.
- Any oral or written representation that suggests or gives rise to the appearance that ASU sponsors or endorses that organization, its agents, or the goods, services, and/or commodities being offered.
Solicitation privileges may be revoked by a university official at any time. The grounds for taking this action shall include, but are not limited to:
- Any of the above listed solicitation practices;
- Substantiated adverse complaints or reports regarding the quality of the goods, services, or commodities solicited, the manner in which they are offered for sale, and/or the method of terms of financing;
- Misconduct by the soliciting agents or representatives while on the University premises.
Sales of Services, Commodities, and/or Food on Campus by Registered Student Organizations and Approved Vendors
Sales of services, and/or commodities, including food or beverages on University property, by or on the behalf of any off-campus company or group, which is not under contract to the Arizona Board of Regents or the University is prohibited. To ensure your request for food meets health safety standards and does not conflict with existing contracts, a Food Waiver Request Form (available at the Student Union) must be filled out and approved by the Student Union and a Sodexho Campus Catering representative as well as a representative from ASU Office of Environmental Health.
Vendors requesting space within the Union may use the Union Reservation
form. If you are requesting space not located in the Union, use the Union
Reservation form. Please indicate
this in the space marked “Room Request” on the Union Reservation form.
